More cards in the swap

065

I just got two cheerful cards in the swap.

The first one was from Diane in the U.S.A. She had used some fabric with butterflies on it, and sewn some stitches and glued glitter to make the butterflies really come alive. I love this card! It feels so soft and the butterflies look and feel realistic in person.

The second card also made me smile.

When you pull the red strip of paper, a card sticks out with a thoughtful quote. I love that quote. I wish more people would think that way, and I will definitely try to have that quote in mind now after the disappointing result in the finnish election this sunday… Maybe some door has opened because of this, maybe it’s not all bad.

Thank you both for your cards! I am really fortunate to be the recipient of them! :)

2 more cards in the swap :)

Yesterday I got two more cards in the swap.

The one on the left with the flowers and the lighthouse is from Christina in Sweden.

The one on the right was sent to me by Ewian in Norway. Ewian’s card is handpainted and much more lovely in person than in the picture above.

Thank you both for your cards! I love this swap, so fun to ”share creativity” as Ewian writes, to inspire and be inspired by :)

My second card in the postcardswap

Yesterday I received this vibrant card with a big exotic mendhi in the middle and the word Joy stamped on it.

On the back Lis, the artist, has written:

Each day we have the option to

CHOOSE JOY

In thought, word, or deed

Ask ”How can I bring Joy into this moment?”

Choosing Joy does not mean denying other feelings or responses;

rather it is acknowledging that we are vast enough

to hold so much more within ourselves.

Choosing Joy is means to discover the gifts

each moment offers us when we are open and present.

And choosing Joy is good for ourselves and our world!

Become a Joy Warrior and join us

as we seek to bring more joy into our world.

Bubbles optional but recommended.

Such a happy joyful card, it made me smile! I will certainly try to be a Joy Warrior from now on! Sounds like just what the world needs.

My first swapcard

I finally got my first card in the postcard swap, and what a lovely colourful card it is! It has arrived all the way from the U.S.A., and Moira, the artist who made it, has written such an inspirational quote on it:

”It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all”

- Edward de Bono

Thank you so much for the lovely card! :)

iHanna’s postcard swap

028 (2)

I’m finally finished with the cards for iHanna’s postcard swap. It was really fun to make them, but I didn’t have as much time for  them as I had wanted, so I ended up making 10 almost identical cards.

I was planning on making an oldfashioned collage from old books and newspapers, but ended up doing the collage mostly on the computer instead. I am longing for springtime something fierce right now (here in Finland we still have winter and lots of snow), so the postcard ended up being a celebration of spring. With a little message that is sort of how I like to do things, or rather, how I would wish I did things: Festina Lente.

I took an old Easter postcard and photoshopped the image on it a bit. Changed the colours and added some text. I also used an old photo of cherry blossoms that I took a few years ago. Changed the colours on that as well using photoshop, and put the two images together. Then I cut out a butterfly by hand from an old danish book and sewed it to the card. Finished the whole thing off with some orange-pink glitter glue and some green sequins.

I glued the whole image onto some old postcards. It’s been annoying me for years that I haven’t found a good use for them (I didn’t like the images on  them), but now I finally found the perfect project for them.

The postcards are already on their way to many countries of the world! I am so looking forward to the cards that soon will show up in my mailbox. Hopefully those who get my postcards will be just as happy for them, as I am sure I will be for all the postcards I get!

Thank you for the swap, iHanna!

iHannas Postcard Swap
